This book contains the sketches on paper of an army of writers involved in the international graffiti elite. While graffiti is a public art, graffiti writers' blackbooks are personal histories. They record each writer's development of a unique style. Drawings presented range from intricately detailed and colored letterforms to quick scribbles with a simple pen. The diverse starting points illustrate the variety and dynamism of lettering, and demonstrate the creativity, persistence, and sometimes obsessive tendencies of the creators. The results of sleepless nights and emptied pens are presented on 160 pages with 250 sketches, including 50 in full color.
